Managing the Main ActiCalc Window

ActiCalc behaves just like any other Windows application, but there are a few extra features you can use to make ActiCalc fit perfectly into your desktop.

The normal, default mode is to run in "Large View" as represented here:

While running in the "Large View", you can stretch the window width and height by dragging the borders on the right or bottom.  As you stretch the window, ActiCalc automatically re-proportions the tape box inside.  Notice in the following picture the ActiCalc window isn't wide enough to contain the entire tape, so the tape has a horizontal scroll bar.

ActiCalc remembers the placement and size of the screen and returns to that size the next time you launch the program.

There may be times when you want to enter a series of calculations while viewing another document such as a PDF or a web page.  ActiCalc offers a "Small View" mode.  When you click the button circled at the right, ActiCalc toggles between large and small views.  The small view contains only the data entry pane.  However, even though you can't see the tape in this view, all your entries are being saved in the tape as usual.  To see the tape or modify the previous entries, click on the toggle button, which will restore ActiCalc to the large view.

While ActiCalc is in the small view, it always stays on top of other applications, regardless of your
stay-on-top setting so that you can see the running balance.
