Encrypting Files
(This is a premium feature)
Sometimes you may want to keep your calculations private from prying eyes. ActiCalc supports a simple but effective encryption feature. Registered users can encrypt their files by selecting Encrypted Tape Files in the type field of the Save As dialog.

At that point, ActiCalc will ask you for the encryption key to be used with this file. You must save this key because ActiCalc will require this key the next time you open the file. If you lose the key, you cannot open the file.
You can exchange encrypted files with other registered ActiCalc users by providing them the encryption key.
The encryption algorithm used by ActiCalc is sophisticated enough to discourage all but the most advanced hackers. But it is simple enough to avoid any problems with inport/export compliance. If you require stronger encryption, you can encrypt the normal ActiCalc TAC files using a separate, commercial-grade encryption program.
