Tutorial: Calculation Blocks

The IntelliTape can include many independent sets of calculations.  In the example at the left, there are three independent sets of calculations (or "blocks").  The first set is the sequence we studied above.  We created the 2 additional blocks simply by entering new calculations.  As long as you continue to enter operators you extend the current block.  However, if you enter a new number before entering an operator, you start a new block.  It is really quite simple.  You will quickly learn the difference.  And remember, you can always reverse your last entry by pressing Alt-Bkspc.  If you use the dbl-click technique described above to change one of the numbers in the Entry column, the change will affect only the balances within that block.

Congratulations.  You have completed the 5-minute tutorial.  You are now ready to begin using ActiCalc to improve your productivity.  ActiCalc has many more capabilities that we have not covered in the 5-minute tutorial.  Here are some other topics you may want to explore:
  • Adding and deleting lines in the tape
  • Adding and deleting lines in the tape
  • Updating existing lines
  • Exporting to Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Precision control
  • Adding machine mode
